There is nothing quite like the first few weeks of summer; looking forward to the vacation escapes yet to happen, enjoying the late evening sunshine with a cocktail and, of course, breaking back into that summer closet that has spent months in hibernation.

My warm-weather style is certainly that little bit more colourful, upbeat and girlish than the rest of the year, but the challenge is maintaining that fashion edge. Cue uber-cool Danish brand Ganni, and there sentimentally named ‘Stop And Smell The Roses’ capsule for Net-a-Porter. The 12-piece collection features bold floral prints, lace and sequins spun into signature laid-back styles which are just as easily thrown on with vintage denim and sneakers, as they are with party heels.

Fittingly, Net-a-Porter celebrated this capsule of all things garden-party-worthy with a fun-filled evening at new Lower East Side hot spot The Flower Shop; where we enjoyed (you guessed it) pretty floral themed cocktails, ‘Paper Couture’ corsage party favours and what can only be described as an epic throw-back summer soundtrack (everything from Fleetwood Mac to Prince, with everything in between).

To my earlier point, all of the gorgeous women that joined us wore their favourite piece from the collection in a different way; for Harper’s Bazaar’s Style Director, Joanna Hillman, that was a low-key layered slip and choker, whereas Charlotte Groeneveld of The Fashion Guitar favoured clashing prints and denim, and the beautiful Jenny Walton opted for the pretty tea dress with signature vintage jewellery.

Here are some of my favourite snaps of the evening courtesy of Hannah Thomson.

And should you feel inspired to shop, you can find the entire collection here.
